Hello there!!  My name is Daphne, and I would like to introduce myself to you.  I am a beautiful little female, with a personality to match. I am an exceptionally sweet girl.  I love attention, and am very affectionate back.  I just love to give kisses and be near my people.  I will follow you everywhere if you let me, and love to share the couch with you and snuggle.  I am quite energetic, with the typical puppy enthusiasm.   I love to run and play with the other dogs here.  I get along with everybody, but my foster mom says I would probably be best in a house without very small dogs as I get a bit excited and forget my size, and can sometimes play a bit rougher than they would like.  I do very well with the resident cat.  I will occasionally chase him if he is in the mood to play, but for the most part I just ignore him.

I am a very smart girl, and very eager to please.  I am working on my basic commands such as sit and stay, but will need some more work to make me a perfect dog..  I do take correction very well.  If I get too rambunctious in the house, my foster mom just tells me to stop and I go rest on one of the dog pillows.  I am extremely well behaved in the house.  My foster mom says I am actually very calm for my age, as I am still under one year old, so I am pretty proud of that!!

Did I mention that I LOVE to go for car rides???  I am an excellent passenger too.  I usually just curl up and take a nap until we reach our destination.   I have been crate trained too…I am told this helps with the house training.  I will not make a mistake in my crate.  I may whine and bark for a couple of minutes , but then I settle down and go to sleep.   I love playing with the tennis balls, pine cones, and sticks….basically, anything can become a toy for me!!  I am also fascinated with water...I love to play in a Kiddie pool that is in the back yard, and will probably enjoy any trips to the beach or lakes.  You need to watch me around water hoses...I LOVE to try to catch the water as it comes out of the hose.  It is a great game!!

My ideal home would be with someone who has a lot of time to interact and play with me, as well as continuing to work on my training.  I need someone who will be as loyal to me as I will be to them.  Another dog would be a plus, as I have learned a lot from my furry siblings.  Won’t you come meet me??  I’d love to meet you and get a family of my very own!!  I won’t disappoint you!!

Update 4/09:  Although you could hardly tell by how hard I play outside and how active I am, I have been told my hips are not perfect.  I went to the vet for x-rays and after a few docs looked at them, the general consensus is that I have hip dysplasia and will eventually need to have surgery to fix me.  I am still too young for that, as my growth plates have not even closed and I am not showing any pain or hindrance in my activity level, so that all has to wait.  Some dogs with very mild HD can be lame and show physical issues, while others with pretty bad HD don't even show it...so treatment depends on the individual dog and how they progress and right now, I am a happy go lucky puppy.  I am already getting some good joint supplements and are continuing to stay lean and active to keep up my nice muscle tone...all which helps to support my hips and keep me pain free.  But I want everyone thinking about adopting me to know this, I still deserve a home and a family to love me, even though I'm not perfect.  Heck, who is...everyone has something wrong with them, but my hips won't keep me from playing ball and going on walks and snuggling with you.  It just means that I need some extra supplements and may need surgery in the future.  After surgery, I should be good as new...in fact, better than new!  We are going to start raising money now so that can happen.  If anyone wants to adopt me before then, all the better, I want to be part of a family that will love me for me, warts and all!  And, it will open a spot here at my foster mom's house to save another dog from the shelter, so we all win!  So as I said before, apply for me, come meet me, I won't disappoint you!!  If you don't have a place for me, please donate towards my surgery!!
