Who is Noble Shepherd Rescue?

Our Mission

We are an approved non-profit corporation with the state of South Carolina. We have received our 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. There is no public shelter to visit. Instead, our companion animals are lovingly cared for in one of our approved foster homes where they can more readily adjust to a family/home environment. If you are interested in adopting or fostering any of the dogs listed, please email the contact listed on the dog's page.

It is our goal to place as many as we can in forever homes with people that appreciate the nobility and undying loyalty that is characteristic to the breed. You'll never find a better friend, or a more dedicated companion.

All of our dogs are vet-checked upon rescue, spayed or neutered, brought up to date on all vaccinations and tested for heartworms. They are also temperament tested, checked for food aggression, compatibility with other dogs as well as children, and socialized extensively before being placed on our adoption list.

German Shepherds aren't for everyone. They are a unique breed. Highly intelligent dogs, they love to learn. They do very well with obedience and command training, and most enjoy it thoroughly. They do, however, tend to have more dominant personalities than some breeds and can be stubborn. It's important to be a step ahead of them at all times, as a GSD with an Alpha personality can be a handful..

If you don't see "your" dog on our website, we are always rescuing this beautiful breed.  Please, fill out an application and be patient. We can pre-approve you for adopting a dog, and when we come across who we know would be a perfect fit for your family, we'll contact you. Wonderful things are worth the wait!!

The perfect German Shepherd Dog is one of those things!

There are ALWAYS more German Shepherds in need than we have room for. It's a sad fact of rescue, but one that you can help!

If you have ever considered opening your home to a foster, then now is the time. Let's help them begin a journey to a new life where they will never experience hunger again.  Let's show them what it means to be loved by a human and not neglected or abused by one.

If you can't foster, then consider making a tax deductible monetary donation.

You may mail these donations to

Have you ever wondered where the money goes when you adopt a dog?  You may be very surprised to learn the various costs involved in rescuing a dog!  We rescue dogs from a variety of backgrounds; some of them come from owners who can no longer keep them and may or may not be up-to-date on shots; some are strays that are found wandering the roadside with no history at all.  The trip to the vet can include:

Office visit and general exam  $45.00

Vaccinations: Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough) $40.00

Fecal flotation: $15.00 (deworming medicine-$10-30)

Heartworm test  $20.00

Microchip: $20.00

Spay or neuter  $100-$150

That is $240-$305 for a HEALTHY dog!!!

Add another $400-500 if the dog has heartworm disease and has to undergo heartworm treatment!

And of course, the regular care including food, monthly heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative = $$$$$

Those things listed above are the most common costs involved in rescuing a dog.  Of course there are other conditions that could be present such as tick borne diseases, sarcoptic or demodectic mange amongst a variety of other health conditions such as hip problems or injuries that may require x-rays or even surgery.

With all that said and the costs involved in rescuing one of these precious creatures, the light that comes to their eyes when they realize they are finally safe and loved = PRICELESS!!!
