To kick off the new 2008 year, Noble Shepherd Rescue is establishing the “Polar Bear Club”.

Our newest little member "Bear" will be our club mascot. The purpose of the Polar Bear Club (PBC)

is to provide immediate crisis funds for dogs with serious or  life threatening issues.  Every dollar of PBC funds

will  go towards the crisis these dogs face.

This is the incredible story of our PBC mascot, Little Bear!

This little guy is our newest rescue and has already stolen everyone’s hearts…but he is in a medical crisis and we need your help.

He was thrown away by his breeder to die alone in the woods since he was sick.

Luckily a neighbor heard and called us.

He spent the first 2 days with us at an emergency clinic and is now in the care of our

rescue vet.  We will update everyone when we have a definitive diagnosis, but until then funds need to be raised to

cover his mounting medical costs.

Donations may be sent

to NSR, with a note for PBC. You may mail these donations to NSR, P.O.

Buddy and Nika are still awaiting the court date before they can be placed for adoption.  We wanted you to see the difference that a little love and care can make!  We are still in urgent need of funds for their care and need donations!  Please help us continue to give them the much needed love and care that they so desperately need.

We are in the process of having Roxie evaluated for surgery, and once all the information is gathered, we will be posting more specifics about that situation.

PLEASE HELP!

We are taking in three German Shepherds from Columbus County, NC that are part of an abuse/neglect case where the owner had abandoned four German Shepherds with no food or water.  Unfortunately when Animal Control got there, it was too late for one of the German Shepherds who had died of starvation/dehydration on the end of a chain in the owner’s back yard.  The local news even did a story on these dogs sad situation:

http://www.wect.com/Global/story.asp?s=6770845

We need your help in order to help these poor souls!

There are ALWAYS more German Shepherds in need than we have room for.  It’s a sad fact of rescue, but one that you can help!

If you have ever considered opening your home to a foster, then now is the time. Let's help them begin a journey to a new life where they will never experience hunger again.  Let's show them what it means to be loved by a human and not neglected or abused by one.

If you can't foster, then consider making a tax deductible monetary donation.

Have you ever wondered where the money goes when you adopt a dog?  You may be very surprised to learn the various costs involved in rescuing a dog!  We rescue dogs from a variety of backgrounds; some of them come from owners who can no longer keep them and may or may not be up-to-date on shots; some are strays that are found wandering the roadside with no history at all.  The trip to the vet can include:

Office visit and general exam  $45.00

Vaccinations: Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough) $40.00

Fecal flotation: $15.00 (deworming medicine-$10-30)

Heartworm test  $20.00

Microchip: $20.00

Spay or neuter  $100-$150

That is $240-$305 for a HEALTHY dog!!!

Add another $400-500 if the dog has heartworm disease and has to undergo heartworm treatment!

And of course, the regular care including food, monthly heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative = $$$$$

Those things listed above are the most common costs involved in rescuing a dog.  Of course there are other conditions that could be present such as tick borne diseases, sarcoptic or demodectic mange amongst a variety of other health conditions such as hip problems or injuries that may require x-rays or even surgery.

With all that said and the costs involved in rescuing one of these precious creatures, the light that comes to their eyes when they realize they are finally safe and loved = PRICELESS!!!

You may mail your donation to NSR, PO Box 7286, Florence, SC 29502 or paypal donation to lisajmcvety@aol.com  All donations are tax deductible.
