Hi.  My name is Dodger.  I came to my foster mom from a shelter here in Bishopville, SC.  Little was known by the volunteer at the shelter about my past but my new mom said she could tell by the physical condition I was in that I wasn’t taken care of.  I have an old injury to my back foot where my foot was most likely caught in a hunter’s trap and broken.  It was allowed to grow up without any medical attention to it so now doc (that’s his name, Doc) says the scar tissue and the bones have healed up without being aligned.  Doc says I’m not in much pain from it and that I’m a tough guy and just learned to use my other three feet and legs more to compensate for my bad one.  My mom plans to take me to a specialist just to have a second opinion and we will let you know what the new Doc says.

If you would like to donate to our rescue so that we can provide    additional medical attention to Dodger’s    foot please paypal us at lisajmcvety@aol.com or mail in a donation to P. O. Box 7286, Florence, SC 29502.      Remember we are 501(c)(3) now so all donations are tax deductible.

I also have one ear that flops (mom says it gives me character) because my ear was badly infected when I was a puppy and they let it go untreated.  So now my mom cleans my ears twice a week to keep them from getting more infections.  I say Thank God I found my new mom coz it sounds like the old one didn’t care much for dogs.

My new mom wants me to tell you I’m housetrained, very obedient and know my basic commands. I am crate-trained but prefer to not be confined and can be trusted anywhere in the house as I am about three to four years old and past all that silly puppy chewing.  I am neutered, utd on shots and microchipped.

I get along with all other dogs, both male and female, any size.  I enjoy a tumble here and there with the other dogs (especially my buddy Casper) but am not much for running and chasing them.  I do enjoy playing with my ball or other assorted tug ropes and I’m happy to spend time with my human family inside and out doing whatever they want.  I must say that my absolute favorite thing to do is go for drives in the car.  In fact, I love it so much that when someone comes over to visit my mom they better check their backseat before leaving as I can grab a bag and be ready to travel in a split second.

I did hear my mom say that I need someone with shepherd experience as I tend to become protective over my family and need someone that understands that quality about me and knows how to properly introduce me to strangers.  If I think my family is in any kind of danger I react and she wants someone that understands and can handle me.

Don’t worry once I know you I am a big cuddler and just want to give kisses and handshakes.  I am a very loyal guy and will give this loyalty to my new family if you will only take a chance on me.
